Naomi Isted, journalist, blogger and all round fab person. Who is your favourite designer of all time?
Easy, Alexander McQueen, he was the working class kid who changed the world. He was my inspiration and the first designer I loved. Pure genius, he saw fabric and turned it into the highest art, it still makes me get moist eyes to write about him. Each year in Feb I write something positive about him, because that’s how he should be remembered. I can honestly say if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be doing this.
Fossy Meade , Magazine Owner. What would your advice be to those looking to be a fashion writer ?
Work hard, have respect, be yourself and remember the two most valuable things you can have are credibility and contacts. You have a voice, find it, shape it, use it. Also I think it’s important to understand you will get rejections, almost constantly, when you start, but keep writing, keep working at it. The same as anything else, the more you do it the better you get. Also remember to enjoy it.
Charlotte Zimbehl, Fashion Designer and FW Award 2016 Nominee. Who was your first style icon?
I’m not sure there was any one person, but when I was a teen I was really into the mod looks, rather than one person.
Alison Lowe , Owner of Felicities PR, Maserati 100 Mentor, and my Fashion Fairy Godmother. Which Disney character would you be and why?
I have literally no idea, I’ve never properly seen a Disney movie apart from The Jungle Book, Bagheera was quite sarcastic so probably him. In reality I’m probably more like a wise cracking Eeyore.
Angie from SilverSpoonLondon. How did you become so obsessed with cycling?
When I was a kid I first saw the tour on TV and it was the start of a love affair, the racing, the beautiful views of the countryside, and plenty of stats and figures for a boy who loved numbers. I love how hard the sport is and yet so tactical, and also that I can ride the same roads. A football fan will never be able to play at Wembly, but I could ride the Olympic TT route or the path of Le Tour.
Sara Darling, writer, blogger, Fashion Editor at 55pages. Do u sell m your press goodies on eBay?!?
As I write about womens fashion and I’m a man I rarely get sent anything, and the stuff from shows is usually food which I eat, it’s how I live during LFW as I never get time for food most days. If it’s hair products the women I know take them, as someone with not much hair I don’t have call fr a glossy shine. These days its more of a wet wipe ad not a deep lather!!!
Deborah ownwer of Madame Popoff Vintage. Who would you like the fashion police to arrest and restyle?
Whoever picks awards show dresses for Heidi Klum, now I adore and worship her, but serious, sack that stylist, you look terrible on every red carpet, yet look great off them.
Jodie Dewberry, blogger. Fave catwalk ever?
Has to be this moment of genius, even with machines and a spinning model he created the most amazing piece, shows are theatre and art, McQueen just got it . . .
Five people you’d invite to a dinner party?
Lee Miller, she seemed like a lot of fun as well as being a legendary fashion writer, Christopher Isherwood who is my fave author and I might end up in one of his books, Henry Blofeld, I love cricket and he defines the joyful oddity of Test Match Special, Madonna, because she is everything to me, and David Bowie, because he is also everything to me.
