Pall Mall Barbers

On the site soon you’ll see 101 things to do in 1001 days, a list of things I want to do, essentially a bucket list. On that list is get a proper barber shave. Well at the Avant Premier event during LCM I ticked that off. While looking at all the designers I was offered the chance to give Pall Mall Barbers a try. (Forgive the pics, the light wasn’t the best, but it was a great event)

They are a traditional barbers with shops across London, and with nervous apprehension I slipped into the big old chair they had sent for the occasion and off we went. I was shaved by the Trafalgar Square branch based Erin. I have to say it was with a certain trepidation I let her start. Well I can say it wasn’t scary at all, Erin had me at ease in seconds.

It started with being bundled up in hot towels to soften the skin and hair, then a proper old-fashioned lather to soap me up. Erin talked me through the process, and I was amazed to feel so relaxed that it was hard not to nod off under the warm embrace of the towels. When the shaving started it was so smooth. I could tell just how sharp the cut throat razor was as it glided over my face. I should say at this point I very rarely shave with a razor as it gives me really sore skin, but as the hair was being shaved it didn’t feel remotely like that.

In complete contrast to my usual shaves this was quick, soft and gentle. Afterwards my skin felt so soft and glowing that it felt far more like a facial than a shave. As for the products they are all their own mix, and available in store, I’ve since had a friend pick me some up. As for the fragrance of them, it is quite a traditional sandalwood, but I can vouch they smell incredible. In fact I was there with my top fashion journo friend Olivia, and may have told her repeatedly while we were taking advantage of the free bowling “MY FACE SMELLS SO GOOD” (my bowling wasn’t so good, we drew with one game each)

However I think two things prove how good it was, for days after my skin felt the best it has in years, and as my birthday treat to myself I’ll be booking a slot with Erin to repeat it. What better way of proving how good it was than booking more. I’d say if you are a guy, or want a great experience and gift for a guy you know, get them an appointment with the Pall Mall Team. I’d also say it will be an education, they love to talk about the business and the art of what they do, they fizz and bubble with their passion and love for the products, service and history they have.

Get booking.
