The Oscars Best Looks – A Review

Did someone say awards dress reviews. Probably not but here they are anyway. I’ve enlisted 3 time FW Awards Judge, and all round lovely Ms Shepherd to bring you her top 5 pics . . .

Here is what she had to say.

Dakota Oscars

I’ll level with you. When perusing any red carpet, foremost in my mind is “But what would I wear, if I were there”. I just can’t enjoy it the same way if I’m being objective and not imaging I’m Mrs Ralph Fiennes. (Just kidding. I would never change my name) I know I wouldn’t look even half as good. I know I’ll never go to the Oscars. But I still do it. Anyway. Dakota Fanning, I would wear this. Well done. The colour is so perfect for her skin tone. Her lipstick. Her hair. HER HAIR! I love everything about it, she is luminous.

lupita oscars

Lupita always look good. When, at midnight, I was seeing just hints of the top of this, Twitter was going wild with anticipation. I do like the top with the heavy pearls more than the bottom, but it’s still a winner. And Calvin Klein, who knew?

Hot damn! She looks super foxy. It makes me want to have my hair cut like this (I won’t. My face is too big to carry it off) It’s softer and steamier than anyone tends to do at the Academy Awards and I am fully on board.

This is one I can’t explain. I love the hair-beard-powder-blue ness of it all. It works.

This has made a few fashion journalist’s worst dressed list and I am here to say they are WRONG. Solange looks so happy. Her dress has a helpful pocket, why wouldn’t she be smiling? She’s covered up in a non-frumpy way so she is probably warm enough. It was raining last night, lest we forget. And LA is pleasant in February, but it’s not high summer. And the colour! Like a highly artificial fizzy drink. Beautiful.
