Q & Eats With Alina

Q & Eats is shaping up nicely, and it has given me the chance to hang out with a blogging fave of mine, Alina from fairy tale pretty picture, a Cosmo Award winning blog. Some shopping happened, with a tux being purchased I’ll show you when I wear it. We were going somewhere else in Soho but the wait was long so we hopped a couple of streets over and went to The Banana Tree instead.

Busy, bustling and full of amazing Indochinese smells wafting across the room it was just right for a chilly evening.

We got seated fairly quickly, and the menu is great, loads of feel good dishes and even a selection for my new found veganism. I chose the Blackened Monks vegetables with my guest going for the Blackened Chilli Pork, a them seemed there.

My noodles were warming, the veggies crisp and crunchy, and the sesame crackers perfect. The sweetcorn balls were perfect mouthfuls, and the tofu, well that is always a mark of a place as it is so easy to make it bland, et this was spicy and bursting with flavour.

With a total bill including drinks under £25 it really is a cheap central London eat that you can walk out of the door and feel satisfied with.

I then took her off to my fave tea room in Soho, which has the best cakes in London I think, Maison Bertaux.

Alina also reviewed it for us . . .

Dining at the Banana Tree was divine. Not only was the company great but the food was delicious!

After a few loud exclamations from Ross (I’m very proud of her, what can I say) about me being the winner of Best Interior Blog at the Cosmo Blog Awards 2015, which in turn caused a few heads to turn, I blushingly ordered the Blackened Chilli Pork, slices in soy and chilli garlic accompanied with egg fried rice.

The food was cooked to perfection.  The sauce was great and didn’t overpower the meat at all, and the meat itself wasn’t too spicy either – which is perfect for a Russia gal like me who’s not keen on killing off my taste buds 😉

Overall, there’s nothing not to like about Banana Tree, it’s social, friendly and has lovely food.

For desert, Ross and I decided to go for a bit of cake and tea. So, we walked towards the cutest little home-made cake shop and I ended up choosing a fruity, creamy piece that was soft, fluffy and mouth-wateringly tasty.  I’m definitely going back there… and while I’m there maybe I’ll ask for some baking advice too!

Thanks Ross for such a lovely evening 🙂
