Blogging Awards – A Dedication

As some of you may recall I have quite a strong set of opinions in general, and some of those relate to blogging awards. I find it difficult in the myriad of awards out there to see value in some. There are the mutual back slapping ones, the ones designed to get people to drive clicks to their sites, and the ones that are about pretending they care about blogging.

There are a few awards out there though that really do care about whats going on in the blogosphere, or the people they are picking, I’m not cynical enough to say everything is all that way.

They are a bit of an irrelevance to me, I’m my harshest critic and I’m also proud of what I have achieved, no trophy will undermine how far I’ve come or the standard I’ve set for myself. For me this has always been a fun thing, and the fact that people come and read still amazes me, and is the biggest reward I could get from my ramblings.

That being said the strangest thing happened last night . . .

Wear Eponymous had been announcing some surprises about their site and the latest collections, and all of a sudden announced their new blogging award, which you can apply for (link here) but they out of the blue told me that I was the first ever winner.

“The 1st ever #WEAwards winner is…@fashionworked for doing it that little bit differently & always striving to #beyourownstory #fbloggers”

Well I was really touched, especially as it was for being my own story, to have the respect of the people at W.E. who I really do have so much time for and regard as one of the next big things was very humbling and heart warming. To be recognised for choosing my own path was great, its a validation of what I’m bout and where I want to go.

But I don’t think I’m a star, the good people are the real stars, they are the ones truly being their own story by taking risks and reaching for a shared dream, in comparison I feel somewhat of a fraud.

With that in mind I would like to dedicate my award not to me, but to all the up and coming labels and retailers that inspire everything I do on my site, if it wasn’t for those people, including W.E. there would be no reason to do it.

To each and every one of you this is as much about you as it is me.

Knowledge of commercial interests has helped shape my fashion industry insights beyond critiquing of garments

  1. The fact that you are humble enough to dedicate it the way you have is EXACTLY why you deserved it. Well done.

    • Yeah it’s strange, I’ve previously turned down or quietly & respectfully returned any nominations wins. But this one came out of the blue from people I adore, so was really touched

  3. Aww congratulations for winning Ross 🙂 ❤ Gisforgingers xx
