Happy Birthday To The Icon – Madonna

I’m tough, I’m ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, okay.

In 1978 a young girl from Michigan would pack her bag with clothes and dreams and head off to New York City to change the world. She would end up being one of two rules we have here at FW Towers, and have created a career that sold over 300 million records, countless movie tickets and a billion newspaper stories, today we celebrate Madonna and her birthday. Oh and that rule is nobody is allowed to bad mouth the woman we simply refer to as The Icon.

I stand for freedom of expression, doing what you believe in, and going after your dreams.

From the moment as a small child when I heard songs from True Blue on the radio I was hooked, a little kid who had found an artist that would in some ways define his life. There were singles and an album prior to this but I was too young. As a teenager Ray Of Light would become the song my friends and I would listen to getting ready to go out, and to this day I still worship her.

I am my own experiment. I am my own work of art.

She taught me and many others some simple truths, be yourself, cut your own path, fight for what you believe in, and stay true to your dreams. She isn’t just “The Queen Of Pop” she redefined the genre, she owned the 80’s, she set the path that wannabe stars follow to this day, and she didn’t let anyone tell her what to do, or who to date.

If your joy is derived from what society thinks of you, you’re always going to be disappointed.

WWMD is the philosophy that I live by.

Power is being told you’re not loved and not being destroyed by it.

Today we celebrate the artist, the singer, the star, THE ICON.
