I think its fair to say there is one thing we can all agree on about the Queen, she has great style. Using many British designers the Queen has managed to walk the tightrope of staying graceful and chic with looking amazing, the rules she has to work with can be quite restrictive, as a head of state there is no nipping out to open a hospital wing in pyjamas, or touring the commonwealth in ugg boots or a t-shirt and jeans. As well as being a figure-head the Queen is also an ambassador for Britain and its designers, dress the Queen and you have made it, her outfits attract column inches and promote British fashion.
We have decided to look back at her style, something that has been consistently great for 87 years. We should add here that we also love her use of colour, her hats, and for always having the perfect hat and gloves to set off an outfit. I know from my more elderly relatives and friends that they get fed up of being offered muted colours and clothes by retailers, and they point to the Queen as someone who is a pensioner showing they want more than beige slacks.
So we thought we’d have a look at some of her style over the years, as in some ways it’s a look at some of our fashion heritage.
Still at least the Queen seems to have lined up her apprentice in grace and elegance already
